     Milsten, Riley Win 18s, 16s in the SC, GA Junior Challenge at Van Der Meer Tennis Center

        HILTON HEAD ISLAND SC (TENNIS E-News) --Sam Milsten won the Boys' 18s and Ariadna Riley won the Girls' 16s in today's finals at the SC/GA Dual State Championships at Van Der Meer Tennis Center. The Boys' 16s final Friday at 9:30 a.m. will finish singles action in the tournament that drew 136 players from the two states. Admission is free to spectators.   

    #5 seed Milsten of Alpharetta GA upset top seed Robert Anderson of Evans GA in a protracted three-setter 7-6(5), 2-6, 6-2. The Girls' 16s found two unseeded players in the championship match, with Ariadna Riley of Macon GA defeating Jennifer Leib of Atlanta 6-3, 6-1. Top seed Shannon Herndon of Blowing Rock NC won the Girls' 18s singles championship Wednesday. She defeated Mary Shutley of Marietta GA 6-4, 6-2 in the final. The two then teamed in doubles but lost in the finals.

    The Boys' 16s final Friday will pit #1 Jess Jones of Warner Robins GA against #5 Christopher Mahan of Raleigh NC. Doubles play will continue.
